Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day is a single day set aside to honor those who are currently serving in any branch of the United States Military. Originally each branch of the armed forces celebrated on a different day. In 1949 Secretary of the Defense Louis Johnson was put in charge of each of the branches of the military and Unified all of the days into a single holiday celebrated on the third Saturday in May.
