Chinese New Year History

Chinese New Year is one of the most important holidays for Chinese people. It is usually celebrated on the second new moon after the Winter Solstice. The only exception is if it is an intercalary new year, or leap year, when it is celebrated on the third new moon after the winter solstice. Since the Chinese calendar is a lunisolar calendar leap years don't occur every four years, the next leap year is 2033. The Chinese calendar is also followed by Mongolians, Koreans, Miao and Vietnamese people.
