Most large cities across the United States with large Chinese populations hold Chinese New Year Parades. The largest parade however occurs in San Francisco. It is named one of the world's top 10 parades and is the largest Chinese New Year Parade outside of China. The parade has over 100 floats and is filled with musicians, dancers and other entertainers. The parade also features the most recent winner of the Miss Chinatown Beauty Pageant.

The parade culminates with the Golden Dragon which is over 200 feet in length. This dragon costume is hand carried by 100 men. It is made by the Foshan Dragon Masters. It is made of a bamboo frame and covered with rainbow colored pom poms that decorate its entire length. Its head over six feet long and lights run up and down its entire body.
