December 25th or Christmas 2005 occurs on the last Sunday of the year. Between the first Friday after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve December 24th there will only be 36 shopping days. These shopping days are considered the most valuable time for most retailers and merchants, as a successful Christmas selling season can be the difference to make a year successful.
While Christmas today may be focused on commerce and business it's important to remember that it started out as a religious holiday. From the days of Saturlina and pagan religions to, the Winter Solstice and into early Christian celebrations Christmas is a time for being kind to others, going beyond what we do everyday and helping people with gifts of kindness and charity. By giving something away and making someone else happy you get a true feeling of happiness that can never be bought in store.
