In 1942 Irving Berlin wrote the words and lyrics to the popular song 'White Christmas'. The song was used in a movie that was released that Christmas in the movie 'Holiday Inn' staring Bing Crosby. At the time the United States was deeply involved in World War II and the poignant song tugged on the heart strings of Americans at home and serving abroad. The song proved so popular that the studios produced a white Christmas Movie the next year staring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, and Rosemary Clooney. The popular song has been a Christmas tradition ever since.
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten,
and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
