Diamond History
The diamond has been part of romantic traditions since 1477 when Archduke Maximillian of Austria gave a diamond ring to Mary of Burgundy. This act is the origin of the engagement ring. The origin of the word diamond comes from the Greek word adamo, which mean tame or subdue, as a diamond is the hardest substance known to man.

The most sought after diamonds are clear in color with no inclusions. In rare cases diamonds come in colors such as pink, yellow or blue. Diamonds are the hardest substance known to man and have a 10 on the mohs scale of hardness.
