Artist Peter Carl Faberge, while in St Petersburg Russia created the Faberge eggs in the 1880's. The 'Easter Egg' is made of rubies, diamonds, gold, pearls, enamel, and Lapis lazuli. The egg has hinge, which opens to reveal a 'yoke crown'. The crown is also hinged and contains a ruby. This is not one of renowned imperial eggs but was most likely was fabricated as a gift for a member of the Russian aristocracy.
