Flag Day or National Flag Day is holiday set aside to honor the adoption of the flag by the Second Continental Congress in 1777. How June 14th was chosen as the day is up for debate, the three leading contenders are Bernard J. Cigrand , William T. Kerr and George Morris. Most of the evidence points to Bernard J. Cigrand being the most vocal supporter however the evidence is far from conclusive. In 1949 issued a proclamation that June 14th would be Flag Day and it was later made a law by congress. It's not Federal Holiday and only the state of Pennsylvania recognizes it as a State Holiday.
