All across the United States there are family parties, bar-b-ques, and celebrations on July 4th. Many cities and town hold parades or other festivities. It's also fairly common for there to be afternoon baseball games and tail gate parties. NASCAR holds one of it's most popular races on July 4th the Firecracker 400. Another long tradition is Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest held on the Coney Island boardwalk every year. It's the most well known eating contest and draws participants from across the world.
